Happy Valentines Day, February 11th, 2013

Dear Family and Friends,
Here we are again on another P-day, the missionary's day of rest! We keep learning every week and it is just a wonderful experience everytime we are faced with a trial! We keep working, trying to help the people to be able to come unto Christ and be saved and live in joy with their family for ever.
On Friday we got to talk with an Evangelical Pastor. We had met with him the week before, and we asked him about his work. He told us that he just had a little business. He house was very nice, so we immediately thought: pastor or drug lord. Turns out that he knows a lot about the Bible, and has a program on his computer that has over 100 translations of the Bible. It was a very interesting talk. Usually evangelicals just think that as long as you accept Jesus Christ as the Savior that we would be saved. He told us a lot of different things and were able to make him kinda trip on his own words. He really thinks that we hadn't accepted Jesus Christ, and so the conversation got kinda hot. We left him with Book of Mormon. He invited us to "find out if we were in the faith." I extend the same committment to everybody that reads this letter! In a world that is always changing and always getting a little more and more wicked, it is extremely important that we base our testimonies firm in the authority, and the true church of Jesus Christ. If we don't, we'll find ourselves lost.
This week has seriously FLOWN by! I cannot believe how fast it went. We had a really sweet experience this week with an investigador that we have. She is the daughter in law of Andrea Rodriguez. Her name is Mirsa and the experience that we had was really great. She has never really gone to any church, she hasn't been baptized either. We asked her to pray to know if she should get baptized, and it was very hard for her to accept the challenge to pray because she had never really prayed before. After about three times of asking, she accepted to say the prayer. She asked if she should get baptized and received an answer during the prayer. It was awesome! She started crying as she continued praying, and we asked her after the prayer, "Hey, how did you feel as you prayed?" She told us that she just felt something warm in her heart. It was a really nice experience, she is going to get baptized.
This week we did exchanges with the zone leaders. I went with Elder Oborn and I learned a lot. I learned a little sequence of scriptures that kinda proves that this church is true. First, if we go to Matthew 16:18, it talks about the rock. What is the rock? Peter or Jesus? Then, if we read Ephesians 2:20, it talks more about prophets and apostles and the rock. Who is the rock? Jesus Christ. Now, let's read Matthew 10:1, What does it say here? Jesus called 12 disciples and gave them authority. Now the last scripture, Lucas 10:1. What does it say here? Christ also chose 70 more and sent them out 2 by 2. Have we ever seen this organization in a church in our day? The ONLY answer: The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I love this gospel and this church and that the Lord has restored everything to its fulness. Let's all find out if we are in the faith this week. I love you all and thank you all for your prayers and worries!
Love,
Elder Hilton

February 4, 2013 Huahuatenango

Hello there,
Things are rolling like they always are down here in the great land of Guate! We keep working with some the investigators that I have mentioned, and it is pretty awesome to see the changes that they are making in their lives. It is really sweet. We also had a Zone Conference with Elder Martino from the Seventy and it was really awesome. He was very straight forward because there are a lot of things that need to chagne in the mission and are going to change. It was really inspiring and it really made me want to be a better missionary. We are going to start working smarter and hopefully never stop working smarter. I hope that we work smarter and smarter everyday!
The people that we are working with. There is a family from a place called Talmiche, it reminds me a lot of Nahuala, I love it. It is really beautiful! The dad's name is Alfredo, his wife, Migdalia, and their two kids, (I don't remember their names right now, but they're just little tykes right now.) They called us on Saturday night and told us that they wanted to come to church on Sunday. This is a wonderful sign! I love it when people say this! However, the only problem is that they live like an hour hike up a mountain, so we couldn't walk up there and bring them to church at 8 in the morning! We called our ward mission leader and he helped us out there. They have already come to church two times, they just need to come to church one more time and then they can get baptized! We visited them one day and brought water for them. It was one of the hardest things that I have done in the mission. They don't have running water, so they have to go down to the river probably about 300 feet and bring the water up. We did it and they came to church! We told them that we would do it soe that they could come to church on sunday.
We keep working with Amilcar and Maricela, but they didn't come to church yesterday...:( However, Diana asked permission from her evangelical mom to come to church and her mom gave it! Now Diana has come to church twice as well, and so now she just needs to come another time and then she can get baptized, with the permission of her mother. She is way awesome and loves the Book of Mormon and loves everything.
Hno. Gustavo got baptized on Saturday, and that was really special. His son baptized him. It was really awesome. He is so awesome for missionary work.
Here, more than anything I am learning about the importance of member missionaries. Without members, the work hardly moves. The reason that the Church grows is because the members work. If we can open our mouth to share the gospel, the Lord will thank us and the people that we share with will thank us, too. I know that this church is the only true church and I love it! I love the perfectness of God and this plan.
Love,
Elder Hilton
