Dearest Family and friends,
First of all, Happy Birthday Mom!!! I really hope it was a good one! Sorry I couldn't be there with you!
Well, these past couple weeks have been some of the hardest of my life! However, I have learned a lot about having a positive attitude. It really has been kinda tough, but it is worth it. We have really been studying the Book of Mormon, lately and it has been so good. Nephi always has a great attitude about everything. In 2 Nephi 4 he talks about what we can do to get more energy and umph to keep moving with life. The conclusion that I drew was that we can pray and the Spirit will keep us up.
We keep working, but it is very hard. Honestly, this is the hardest thing that I have ever done in my life!!! Transfers are next week and I am pretty sure that I am going somewhere else. It is kinda sad because I think that there will be a few more baptisms in the coming weeks. We are working with some other people now and we are hoping to be able to get them to get baptized. A few are from the family of Cornelio's in-laws. Cornelio is the first counselor in the ward. His father-in-law is named Baltazar and has a few problems, but he wants to get baptized. I love the talk from President Monson from Priesthood session that talks about how people can change. Here there are some people that believe that people won't change; it is kinda sad. Baltazar will change if he lives according to the Gospel. We have already seen one miracle with Salvador! Men can change and will change. Speaking of Salvador, he came to church yesterday, after drinking last Friday. It was so nice to see him in church again. He drank weekly, at least and had never quit drinking for more than a month. He went 105 without drinking, but then fell. We can all learn something from his awesome example. Sometimes we fall, but then we can choose to stay down, or get back up. He chose to get back up.
We are working with some other people that have worked with the missionaries before. Their names are Isabela, Ana, Mauricia, Cornelio, Edgar, Wilson and Ingrid. I love them all, they are really great. I think that once we gain a really good relationship with them, they will get baptized.
My companion is really a huge champ. He is always looking out for me and really super focused on the mission. I really envy his ability to stay so focused. He is a really awesome guy that has helped me a lot.
Today for P day, we went to a different waterfall and it was really beautiful. It was surprisingly clean there and on the trail. It was SO beautiful. It was really great and relaxing. It kinda reminded me of Utah a little bit. Speaking of Utah, I love your family picture, there aren't a lot of things that are more beautiful that the big A! I love you all and thank you for all your support!
Love,
Elder Hilton
