Happy Guatemalan Independance Day - September 16, 2013

Dear family and friends,

This week has gone pretty well. However, lately we have been struggling to get people to come to church. We have been working with a young woman named Carolina. She is 16 years old. Her grandma is a member, but her mom isn't. This week she started working everyday nannying. She nannies for a single mother who has two kids, but the good thing is that normally it is only in the afternoon that she works. The single mother that she works for is Erica. She seems pretty sweet and told Carolina that she was going to go to church yesterday, but they called her in to work for Independence Day. We are hoping to baptize Carolina this Sunday, she has come a few times to church and likes it and everything. I love it! We are also working with her younger siblings, as well.

We are also working with Mildred, the lady that is confined to a wheel chair. She is relaly great, but has gone through a TON of trials in her life. She has tought me to just keep wgoing in life because it can ALWAYS be worse. Enjoy what's good and love it. We have been working with her to get her baptized. She seems very excited, and a little nervous because she doesn't want to jump into it too fast. Haha well, after about 2 years of listening to the elders, I think that she is pretty prepared. She just afraid of going to church without her kids, and it is kinda tough to get her kids to go to church.

My companion Elder Garcia, is pretty great. We have a pretty great time. He really wants to be successful, and is really hardworking. He is from Mexico City and we basically enjoy all the time that we have. I love this work and all that I can do. I love the Lord.

Love,
Elder Hilton
