Happy Halloween! Here they don't celebrate Halloween, but they
celebrate something called day of the Saints and Day of the Dead which
are the 1 and 2 of November. This past week has been really crazy. I got
a parasite on Tuesday and spent all day in bed. It definitely flushed
everything out of my system. I probably got up 15 times during the night
to go to the bathroom. It was so terrible. I wanted everything out. It
dehydrated me pretty well, but then Wednesday morning, we went to visit a
family and they had gotten some parasites the week before and had some
pills for me to take. So I took them and things have cleared up. Also,
the fungus has cleared up pretty well too.
On Saturday night, we went to follow up a contact
that we had made and her husband was there. We told him that we were the
missionaries and that we had come to visit them. He just said, "Who?"
alsmost yelling. We told him that we were the missionaries. He then just
said, "We don't have missionaries here!!" Then, he started yelling to
his wife as we walked away. When we were about 20 steps out, we heard a
couple gunshots. I took off running!!! It was so scary, I couldn't
believe it. Needless to say, we will never go back to that house. We had
quite an eventful week.
Yesterday, a man named Byron came to church. It is
now the second time that he has come to church. He is a great man and I
am very grateful for what he has done. I am excited to get with him
more. Yesterday, we also talked with a very nice pastor. It was a
pleasant little time. He kinda drilled us about some of our beliefs. I
got to testify about the Book of Mormon and I could feel the Spirit so
strong. I know that this church is true. I love the Lord Jesus Christ.
Thanks for everything. I love you so much.
Love,
Elder Hilton
Notes from Seth's Mom:
I did contact the Mission president as to
this last health issue with concern. The president and his wife both
emailed me back, and were so complimentary of Seth. The president said ,
"First may I say that Elder Hilton is a tremendous missionary, and we
LOVE HIM! Then his wife emailed me and said she had seen Seth on that
very day at a conference, and that she too loved our Elder. She said
that he had a smile that melts your heart, and that he had eaten a big
hearty meal at the conference, and said that he was feeling better, and
his rash on his arm was looking good. (She had not knowing anything about the large
rash on his arm, nor any treatment for it.) So, hopefully, I didn't
stir things up too much, but maybe instigated some extra attention for
Seth.
This was Seth's response to my letter.
Hey mom, thanks for all your worrying. It makes me feel loved and cared
for, but don't worry too much! I love you a lot mom and thanks for
everything!
